This month's meet the team feature belongs to our very own Stevie Nicks. Find out a bit more about our junior designer, Katy.

Katy Stewart

Job Title:

Junior Designer

Myers-briggs Personality Type:

What does that mean?

Extroverted, Intuitive, Feeling and Perceiving – it means that in order to fill this out I had to copy Gill’s ‘Meet The Team’ blogpost because I’d forgotten what it means. That’s probably an ENFP thing to do.

Typically, what does your role entail?

Day-to-day, I carry out lots of general design related tasks – anything from designing new logos to refreshing old websites and everything in-between. Coming up with creative solutions & ideas is a big part of what I do. I’ve also recently taken over Vital Hike’s social media – so it's me who's been spamming your newsfeeds, apologies.

Favourite thing about your job?

Autonomy & the people! It’s very rare for a junior designer to have almost full autonomy in a role, so I value that a lot. I’ve learnt so much from the people around me -  I was pretty much a total newbie to working life when I started at Vital Hike, graduating from DJCAD in June ’16 and then starting here that same year in September. I really appreciate that Vital Hike took the time to make me feel so welcome – we are a close-knit team which does make you feel like you are a part of a work family.

 Also Ross’s dog, Ted.

What do you do in your spare time?

I’m a huge music fan, so I try to go to as many gigs/festivals as my bank balance will permit! I recently went to see the Stones for the 2nd time at Murrayfield, that was pretty special. I am also currently learning to play Roller Derby with Dundee Roller Derby, so I occasionally come into the office with a bit of a limp or a questionable bruise. DRD are an awesome bunch of people who are so encouraging & I would recommend it to anyone who wants to try something active that's a bit different.

Which 3 people, dead or alive, would you invite to a dinner party?

David Bowie, Keith Richards & Stevie Nicks, could be interesting.

If you had to pick a theme tune for yourself, what would it be?

Talking Heads – This Must Be The Place

& finally, you walk into a bar, what drink do you order?

Jack & Coke
